Sofía Rodríguez-Toymil, born and raised in Puerto Rico, is an actress and creative based in Los Angeles.

After developing a fervent passion for acting and storytelling at a young age, Sofía was accepted at the University of Southern California’s prestigious School of the Dramatic Arts. Here, she excelled in her conservatory program.

Their work is defined by a standard of excellence and childlike wonder. In her artistry, Sofía is pulled to explore moments of peace amidst chaos. Inspired by the recklessness of youth, a sense of cultural fracture, and the absurdity of today’s dystopian society, she yearns to relish creating these moments, both on and off-screen.

As a non-profit arts educator, Sofía excels at the intersection of culturally responsive teaching and theatre pedagogy. At a young age, she has already worked with dozens of groups; she holds firm in the belief that school should be a place where children feel free to unravel their most authentic selves.

As a creative director, Sofía founded and developed Joseo Zine, a bilingual magazine showcasing young artists from Puerto Rico, highlighting an unshakeable sense of authenticity and craft. Sourcing all funds for production from guerilla house parties, the team behind Joseo Zine donated all profits to a mutual aid network supporting queer, trans, and Black livelihood in Puerto Rico.

As an actor, there is nothing more timeless and valuable than the present moment. I’m tired of speaking in the third person, so I’ll just be blunt. There are few things more sacred than acting to me. Acting has transmuted and transformed my life countless times. In every character, there is a piece of myself dancing with a real sense of craft.

Their passion also extends to filmmaking, particularly pre-production and development. After graduation, Sofía worked as an associate producer for Teatro de Oro, the first-ever documentary on Puerto Rico’s theatre history. Additionally, she’s also worked for Emmy-winning film production companies, employing her creativity in a multitude of projects in development and pre-production.

Some of their other passions include Bad Bunny, being silly at the rave, Animal Crossing, and forensic cyberpsychology.
